US President Trump`s government - Ghana`s Charlotte Osei's dismissal in U.S. Human rights report14/3/2019 The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has kicked against any plans by the Electoral Commission (EC) to pilot the implementation of the Representation of People Amendment Act (ROPAA) in the 2020 elections.
The Party believed that if the ROPAA should be implemented, it should be conducted in all the 193 countries recognised by the United Nations, instead of conducting the election in only 64 nations where Ghana had established embassies. Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has tasked constituency executives to focus on strengthening branches of the party as part of efforts to win power in 2020.
Former President John Dramani Mahama has asked the party to work hard and win the 2020 elections to honour their fallen former National Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Adjei.
Eulogizing the former Chairman when he visited his home, he said Dr. Kwabena Adjei has done a lot for the party especially when during his tenure as Chairman he led the party to victory in the 2008 General Elections. The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured it will work assiduously to draft regulations to be eventually passed into a constitutional instrument (CI) by Parliament this year for the smooth implementation of the People’s Amendment Act (ROPAA) 2006, Act 699 ahead of the 2020 general election.
Mr Henry Nana Boakye, the National Youth Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said the party will not be complacent but would campaign massively as though it was in opposition.
Mr Samuel Awuku, the National Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said that election 2020 will be contest of records and ideas devoid of snatching of ballot boxes.
“That is why it is much more important that we let the NDC understand that the era where ballot boxes are snatched is past.” |
