Good morning Mr. President, so far so good. As social democrats, we have tried to lessen the burden of the marginalized in society through our focus on agriculture, job creation, single spine that seeks to better the lot of workers, and delivery of education and health infrastructure to socially excluded communities.
As regards subsidies we have made the right choice as we cannot subsidize everything. Subsidizing agricultural equipment and fertilizer is the best we can do because we are then subsidizing expenditure on food, which constitutes 45% of Ghanaians' domestic expenditure, and this where impact would be maximized.
Subsidizing fuel and water and electricity over the years by past governments, has resulted in the rundown of infrastructure in these sub-sectors to the point of collapse of TOR;
Ghanaians in the capital Accra, looking for water with yellow gallons; and unreliable electricity supply. Within the circumstances, the choices you have made are the best. You are doing well, carry on and remain focused. Please however invest more in explaining these issues to the people because over the entire history of Ghana, the weakest link in the policy process has been policy education. Some of the challenges associated with single spine can in fact be attributed to weak policy education.
When an agitating NAGRAT leader was recently asked on air to explain single spine he displayed amazing ignorance, so please work more on policy education otherwise the opposition would continue to capitalize on the weak understanding of the electorate and continue to feed them with half truths and lies. >>> Read Here Historic Mails to Atta Mills (between 2008 - 2012!
