According to him, President Mahama stands the best chance of securing victory for the party in 2020, stressing “he is currently the most popular figure” in the NDC.
“John is very young and I think he will be the NDC’s surest bet in 2020. If he decides to enter the fray, there wouldn’t be anyone to stop him.
“Seriously, he will make huge impact if he decides to contest again so the NDC should consider that,” Kwaku Baako said.
The editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper further commended President Mahama for graciously accepting what he termed as a “painful defeat’.
“Both candidates exhibited great sense of maturity before and after the results were officially announced. We were all proud to see that,” Mr Baako added.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, 72, was on Friday declared Ghana’s 5th President of the Fourth Republic after an impressive performance in the 2016 presidential poll.
He recorded 53.85% of the total valid votes cast as against 44.40 by President Mahama.
