The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democratic Congress of orchestrating the shooting at La-Bawaleshie in Accra that temporarily led to the disruption of voting at a polling station in the ongoing Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
Six people were confirmed injured and are currently receiving medical attention at the Legon Hospital.

According to the Communication Director of the NPP Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, the NDC plotted the incident with the view to discrediting the credibility of the Electoral Commission and the results of the by-election.
“This is masterminded to discredit the ongoing elections and prepare minds probably for what purposes we can’t tell, and this is to negatively damage the integrity of the Electoral Commission and the Government,” he stated at a news conference few minutes ago.
Some heavily armed men in masks, said to be national security operatives, stormed a house behind the La-Bawaleshie Presbyterian Basic 1 School polling station where they allegedly fired some gunshots.
The house is said to belong to the NDC candidate in the by-election, Delali Kwasi Brempong.
Consequent to that incident, scores of party supporters besieged the party’s headquarters to express their anger at the violence that forced the party to withdraw from ongoing by-election.

But the Communications Director of the NPP rejected the claim by the NPP that the said assailants were national security operatives, and claimed it was the machinations of the NDC which has backfired.
“The grand scheme to change Ghana’s electoral reputation has failed. This was an orchestrated attempt which has failed,” Mr. Buabeng Asamoah noted.
In his view, the NDC is on a deliberate mission to discredit the election in every way possible.
“There has been a clearly orchestrated widespread attempt to blow up the issue that has happened,” he added
Mr. Asamoah, however, condemned the shooting incident and called for calm in all areas to ensure the elections run smoothly. Source: 3news. com
