Source: citifmonline. com - The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed plans of garnering 1.5 million votes in the region in the 2020 general elections. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, said he will not relent on his efforts at making the NPP-led administration popular among residents in the region.
He revealed this during his tour of all constituencies in the region, in appreciation of the work done by various party Chairmen and party executives during the 2016 general elections.
The Regional Chairman of the ruling party in a bid to make the party popular has therefore admonished the various MMDCEs and party chairmen to educate respective residents on government’s plans and policies.
Emphasizing the need to educate the people, he said: “planting for food and Agriculture has come to stay. It is your duty as the Municipal Chief Executive to speak to the people, empower them, farming is not for the poor man, it is lucrative, encourage them. If you’re a chief executive, it doesn’t mean you should sit only in the office, go out to the people, you’re here because of them.” He further indicated that “if the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo government will succeed, it will depend on all of us.”
The Regional Chairman gave each party executive a letter of appreciation signed by His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and the Party’s Acting Chairman, Freddie Blay.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako is also expected to meet all confirmed MMDCEs and party executives.
